Naki and Nina's Double Dare Challenge 26

I promise, one of these days, I'll have my Double Dare Challenge post up on time! But for now, here's this week's challenge a little late...

Naki's pick this week is to use retiring product

My pick was to include stripes

So, what the heck was I thinking when I picked stripes for the challenge today, because I just wasn't feeling in a very stripey mood! I opted for some diagonal stripes using some washi tape I got a while back from Japan. Then I added a Martha Stewart doily, some greenery using the Little Leaves Sizzlet, an Aviary bird cage and and a clay flower. The new Simply Pressed Clay and molds are quite fun to play with! I added a sentiment from Upsy Daisy. Both the stamp sets used for today's card are retiring - Boohoo :( Both are also stamped in VersaMark and embossed with gold - so lovely! :)

Crafts from the Past: Dot Art

Back in March, we hosted a fun event at school - Dot Night - based on the lovely book by one of my favorite authors, Peter H. Reynolds.

One of the tasks given to us to help promote Dot Night was to create a piece of art with a dot focus. I decided to make a large dot by rolling strips of paper. By the way, if you've never googled "rolled paper art," I totally recommend doing so. The image results are rather amazing.

I bought a cheap frame and took out the glass, so the dot pops out of the frame. Here's a close up...

The art works were raffled off to help raise money for our Special Areas and Arts programs. The event was tons of fun and it was lovely to see all the amazing pieces of art from all of our teachers who insisted they didn't have a creative bone in them. :) 

Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge

Hello! Today I've got a card to share for the Pals Paper Arts Color Challenge... And what a challenge this color combination is! It's a lovely color combo, don't get me wrong, but it was quite a struggle for me to figure out just what I wanted to do! I hope you'll play along though! It's always fun to play with friends :)

I got to work with my chevron stripes, using various DSP in the challenge colors. The cutting and pasting is tedious, but I love how it turned out. I'm still not sure that I'd do it again though! A ruffly flower using filter paper and a large white brad was a perfect compliment to balance all the color. I flanked it with some greenery from the Secret Garden stamp sent and the sentiment from Oh, Hello. I'm loving the crisp white against the bold color!
