Cupcake Inspirations Challenge 325

Hi there! I know it's been a while, but I'm finally here to share a new card with you for this week's Cupcake Inspirations challenge. Today's challenge is all about layers. And we have a fabulous sponsor this week... Newton's Nook Designs! Fun!

The DEEtails:

My best friend and fellow sloth lover celebrated her birthday recently. When Newton's Nook came out with the In Slow Motion stamp set, I knew I had to get it! I stamped the adorable sloth on some cream felt and went over the outlines with a black permanent marker. I colored him in with some Baked Brown Sugar and Crumb Cake. The branch was stamped over a piece of Soft Suede card stock that was first stamped with the woodgrain leaf image from Wonderfall in Soft Suede ink. I embossed the edges of the branch in Early Espresso to give it a little dimension. Then I cut out my little sloth and layered the cardstock branch into her arms. Next I layered some Sweet Sorbet DSP onto a Tip Top Taupe card. Then I added some die cut leaves in Wild Wasabi and a piece of white cardstock matted with more Tip Top Taupe and stamped with the sentiment. The final touch was some pretty Crisp Cantaloupe blooms from Papertrey Ink's Bigger Blooms topped with some pretty Enamel Dew Drop Stickers from Freckled Fawn. I love how they match so perfectly!

Paper: Neenah Solar White 80# cardstock, Soft Suede cardstock, Sweet Sorbet DSP, Tip Top Taupe cardstock, Wild Wasabi cardstock,
Stamps: Bigger Blooms (Papertrey Ink), In Slow Motion (Newton's Nook Designs), Wonderfall
Ink: Baked Brown Sugar, Crisp Cantaloupe, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Tip Top Taupe, VersaMark
Embellishments: Early Espresso Stampin' Emboss Powder, Enamel Dew Drop Stickers (Freckled Fawn), Vintage Cream Felt (Papertrey Ink)
Tools: Bigger Blooms die (Papertrey Ink), heat tool, Secret Garden Framelits Dies

Cupcake Inspirations Challenge 320

Hello friends! Are you ready for another yummy inspiration from the Cupcake Inspirations challenge? Today we're playing with Navy, White, and Gold! What a lovely color combination! Check out that lovely anchor on today's card! It's from our fantastic sponsor, DRS Designs. This week, you could win a gift card to their shop!

The DEEtails:

I started with a lovely Night of Navy card base and layered on this fabulous knot pattern from the Martime DSP. Next I layered on some Whisper White cardstock stamped with the World Map background image. I mounted it on some fun foam and framed it with some Night of Navy cardstock die cut with two Pierced Rectangles. Next, I layered on some cute flags. The banner was die cut in three colors, then chopped up to make some nautical flag designs. The sentiment is from Hello Sailor. I like how the Whisper White ink shows up a little chalky and not quite perfect in my die cut circle. Last is this lovely anchor image from DRS Designs. I stamped it on Whisper White cardstock in VersaMark and embossed it with some luscious gold. A little gold twine tops it off. Hope you like the card today!

Paper: Gold Foil Paper, Maritime DSP, Night of Navy cardstock, Whisper White cardstock
Stamps: Anchor (DRS Designs), Hello Sailor, World Map
Ink: Night of Navy, Whisper White, VersaMark
Embellishments: Gold Stampin' Emboss Powder, Gold Twine
Tools: Circle STAX 2 Dies (My Favorite Things), heat tool, hole punch, Party Banner Die (My Favorite Things), Pierced Rectangle STAX Dies (My Favorite Things)

Cupcake Inspirations Challenge 319

Hello dears! Sorry I've disappeared on you... ! I'm here today to share a card that I made for this week's Cupcake Inspirations challenge! It's a special challenge for us because we're collaborating with my dear friend, Heather from Fresh Brewed Designs with these fabulous cupcake and coffee images that she designed! And of course, we have the perfect inspiration for you...

The DEEtails:

The adorable image that I used today is one that Heather designed especially for us! I colored in the mug, cake portion, and hands and feet of the image, then added a few textural elements. I mixed up some embossing powders to create the coffee, and filled in the mug with my VersaMark pen. Then I used some texture paste mixed with some Very Vanilla reinker to add some fluffy frosting. The sprinkles were diecut from the Audrey Cutaways by Winnie & Walter. The cupcake "wrapper" was printed on the Sweet Dreams DSP and layered onto my image. The background is a layered mix of a diecut from the Audrey Cutaways, some pretty patterned paper from Dear Lizzy Neapolitan Paper Pad, stamped with the Heart Ink Splatter from Your Next Stamp inked with Baked Brown Sugar. I layered on some Kraft cardstock, which I ran through my paper crimper and added a strip of Pool Party Cotton Ribbon. The sentiment was created with the thanks sentiment from the Greetings Thinlits layered over some Emmitt Alphabet diecut letters. Of course, I sprinkled on some sequins. :) Sorry, I probably should have taken a close up of the texture, but I hope you like it!

Paper: Coastal Cabana Cardstock, Dear Lizzy Neapolitan Paper Pad, Kraft Cardstock, Soft Suede Cardstock, Sweet Dreams DSP
Stamps: Fresh Brewed Friends (Fresh Brewed Designs), Heart Ink Splatter (Your Next Stamp)

Cupcake Inspirations Challenge 314

Hi there stranger! :) I know, I know... It's been a while... I'm so sorry! I've been keeping busy, but summer vacay is almost here, so I should be back in the swing of things shortly! Today I'm here to share a quick card for this week's Cupcake Inspirations challenge! Check out this gorgeous color inspiration!

The DEEtails:

I started with die cutting these lovely flowers using the Flower Fair framelits dies. I stamped a couple of the flowers in VersaMark ink and then layered them on top of each other with a bit of silver thread mixed in. I wanted a tiny bit of dimmension, so I layered my main flower on some coaster board. I found a bit of crepe paper in my stash and tucked a bit underneath. Next I die cut the hello sentiment and stapled it on. I added a few little gumdrops for a little extra something. Hope you like it!

Paper: Peach Parfait Cardstock, Pink Pirouette Cardstock, Pretty in Pink Cardstock, Regal Rose Cardstock
Stamps: Flower Patch
Ink: VersaMark
Embellishments: Silver Thread, Sparkly Pink Gumdrops (Your Next Stamp), staples, white crepe paper
Tools: Flower Fair Framelits dies, Greetings Thinlits Dies, Pierced Rectangle Stax Die-namics (My Favorite Things)

Cupcake Inspirations Challenge 312

Hello dear friends! :) Sorry that I've disappeared a bit... But I'm back for another challenge at Cupcake Inspirations! I'm quite excited about this beautiful color combination and this fun new sponsor!

These lovely metallic Gatsby inspired cupcakes are a perfect match with the fabulous metallic cardstocks at CutCardStock. They are giving away a $50 gift certificate, so you will definitely want to play along for your chance to win!

The DEEtails:

My plan to somehow mimic those striped cupcakes went to the wayside when I actually started working on this card. Instead, I used the Scallops Textured Impressions Embossing Folder to emboss some gorgeous gold foil cardstock, which I adhered to my Basic Black card. Then I layered on some Ice Gold cardstock that I die cut with a Piereced Rectangle die and matted on some more Basic Black cardstock. I some gold thread and some die cut feathers. I used the Fanciful Feathers die from WPlus9 and some Curious Translucent Gold cardstock along with some more Gold Foil. The sentiment is die cut from another WPlus9 die and stamped and embossed in gold on a little flag tucked under my feathers. Of course I added a little extra sparkle with some Gold Nugget gumdrops. Love them! And I'm loving this card!

Paper: Basic Black Cardstock, Curious Metallics Ice Gold Cardstock (CutCardStock), Curious Translucent Gold Cardstock (CutCardStock), Gold Foil Cardstock (CutCardStock)

Cupcake Inspirations Challenge 310

Hi there! These weeks are speeding by so quickly! Before I knew it, it was time for another Cupcake Inspirations Challenge! This week we have a gorgeous color combination... and some yummy cupcakes!

These butterfly cupcakes are just gorgeous, and picked especially in honor of our sponsor this week - Butterfly Reflections Ink. Have you had a chance to shop there yet? Perhaps you'll be the lucky winner of the $20 gift certificate!

The DEEtails:

I started by stamping the Dictionary background stamp in VersaMark ink and embossing it in Smoky Slate. I probably could have distressed the edges, but I like clean, sharp images, so that didn't cross my mind until after the fact... I did, however, splatter some Glimmer Mist on the paper (and probably could have splattered more). This is Key Lime and it is just gorgeous! Before I adhered my dictionary page, I adhered a bit of Washi tape toward the bottom of my card. Then I layered some pretty flowers and leaves from my go-to flower set, Secret Garden, and added the die cut sentiment. Hope you like it!

Paper: Lucky Limeade Cardstock, Neenah Solar White 80# Cardstock, Pool Party Cardstock
Stamps: Dictionary, Secret Garden
Ink: Pool Party, VersaMark
Embellishments: All is Calm Designer Washi Tape, Key Lime Glimmer Mist (Tattered Angels), Smoky Slate Stampin' Emboss Powder
Tools: Scripty Words Die Set (Your Next Stamp), Secret Garden Thinlits, Stampin' Dimensionals

I layered it on some Silver Foil before mounting it on my Melon Mambo card. Next up was some hot pink burlap from Canvas Corp that I die cut with the Mat Stack 4 die from Papertrey Ink. Cupcake Inspirations Challenge 308

So I'm a little late for this week's Cupcake Inspirations Challenge... Oops! But the color combo was just too fun not to play along...

Aren't these cupcakes just divine?! And such a perfect color palette for playing along with images from A Day for Daisies. I absolutely love ADFD and really wish they would make rubber stamps!

The DEEtails:

My adorable image from ADFD is Me and My Dragon. Isn't it the cutest thing? I watercolored the dragon's body and wings using Coastal Cabana Ink and a wet brush and then colored in the rest with Stampin' Write Markers and Stampin' Blendabilities once he had dried. I had a hard time creating this card because I really just wanted to pop him in a little frame and keep him on my desk :) But, I finally decided to put him on a card... I layered a few pretty patterned papers from the Dear Lizzy Neapolitan line and added the sentiment stamped and embossed on Vellum paper. A few gumdrops finishes things off. Hope you like it, although I'm still wishing he was in a little frame on my desk...

Paper: Crisp Cantaloupe Cardstock, Dear Lizzy Neapolitan Paper Pad (American Crafts), Neenah Solar White 80# Cardstock, White Vellum Cardstock
Stamps: Friendly Phrases, Me and My Dragon (A Day for Daisies)
Ink: Stampin' Blendabilities: Daffodil Delight; Stampin' Write Markers: Blush Blossom, Coastal Cabana, Crisp Cantaloupe; VersaMark
Embellishments: Black Stampin' Emboss Powder, Sparkly Teal Gumdrops (Your Next Stamp)

Cupcake Inspirations Challenge 307

Hello there! Can you believe we're nearing the end of April already? Geez! Where has the month gone! This week we have a great theme challenge for you at Cupcake Inspirations... Spring!

This week's sponsor is Limited Runs Digital Stamps. Nikki has created the most gorgeous image for this challenge! I decided to try a different route and used 2 Blooms instead.

The DEEtails:

This card evolved in an interesting way because I honestly couldn't remember what I had in mind when I chose my image for the challenge. Haha. I decided to enlarge the digi image and cut out only one of the two blooms. I colored it in with my Stampin' Blendabilities Markers. My colors are a bit limited, which is part of the reason for this color combination. I layered some punched circles in Basic Gray and Smoky Slate. The sentiment was stamped in VersaMark ink and embossed it in Smoky Slate. The background is the Sheer Perfection Designer Vellum Stack layered onto some Hello Honey Cardstock. This stuff is gorgeous! I can't wait to use more!

Paper: Basic Gray Cardstock, Hello Honey Cardstock, Neenah Solar White 80# Cardstock, Sheer Perfection Designer Vellum Stack, Smoky Slate Cardstock
Stamps: 2 Blooms (Limited Runs Digital Stamps), Four You
Ink: VersaMark
Embellishments: Smoky Slate Stampin' Emboss Powder
Tools: 1 3/4" Circle Punch, 2" Circle Punchheat tool, Stampin' Dimmensionals

Now stop over at The Cupcake Inspirations blog and check out what the rest of the Sweeties have created. I hope you'll play with along with us this week!

Fluttering By to Say Thanks

Hope your day is going well so far. I'm here today sharing a card that I made for the Waffle Flower Challenge. I've been eyeing their challenges for a while, but this is my first time every playing along. This color palette was quite intriguing so I had to try it out.

DEEtails:

It was a bit of a challenge for me to make sure that each color was added to the card in a deliberate way. I'm really happy with how it turned out although I wish that I had my sewing machine handy cause I would have really liked to stitch up the side edges of the Lost Lagoon layer. I love the bit of Tangelo Twist peeking out underneath the Lost Lagoon. My next layer was a bit of Something Borrowed Designer Series Paper and then a couple of butterflies stamped in Baked Brown Sugar. I added a fun patterned Polaroid style frame die cut from Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper. The frame was mounted on some coaster board to give it a bit of dimension. Then I added on another butterfly with some Stampin' Dimensionals and the fabulous die cut sentiment. Of course a few sequins sprinkled across to finish things. I love these colors! The Stampin' Up In Colors were perfect for this challenge!

Paper: Blackberry Bliss Cardstock, Coaster Board, Neenah Solar White 80# Cardstock, In Color 2013-2015 Designer Series Paper Stack, Something Borrowed Designer Series Paper, Sycamore Street Designer Series Paper
Stamps: Best of Butterflies
Ink: Baked Brown Sugar
Embellishments: Save the Date Sequins (Teresa Collins)
Tools: Fabulous Frames Die Collection (Papertrey Ink), Hand Lettered Thanks Die (WPlus9), Stampin' Dimensionals

Cupcake Inspirations Challenge 306

Hi there! Hope your weekend is going well! It's time for another lovely color challenge at Cupcake Inspirations! We have a pretty spring color palette for you this week.

This week's sponsor is The Stamping Boutique. I'm playing with the Plant Digital Stamp for my card today.

The DEEtails:

I printed the image twice and water colored the greenery and flowers with those Pearlescent watercolors. The stem is just a piece of Baked Brown Sugar Cardstock that I edged with a Basic Black marker and the pot was colored with a Baked Brown Sugar marker as well. I layered the two plant pieces to make a topiary and adhered it with some Stampin' Dimensionals to a piece of Something Borrowed Designer Series Paper that I had edged with my Stitched Line die. I matted it with some Wild Wasabi Designer Series Paper and adhered to a Sahara Sand card. The sentiment is from Best of Greetings and I stamped it on a little die cut banner. I actually die cut the banner twice and cut the center to layer to appear a little more realistic. Hope you like it!

Paper: Baked Brown Sugar Cardstock, Sahara Sand Cardstock, Something Borrowed Designer Series Paper, Subtles Designer Series Paper Stack
Stamps: Best of Greetings, Plant (The Stamping Boutique)
Ink: Baked Brown Sugar, Basic Black
Embellishments: Pearlescent Watercolor Pan Set (Artist Loft)
Tools: Fabulous Frames Die Collection (Papertrey Ink), Stampin' Dimmensionals

Now check out the rest of our Sweeties' creations over at The Cupcake Inspirations blog, then get out your crafty goodies and play along with us! We can't wait to see what you make with this lovely color inspiration!
