Happy Birthday Grandma!

This card is for my grandmother, whose birthday is today! Happy birthday! She is the creative founder of our family (she sews and paints and arranges flowers, among other things!) and has passed on those creative genes to the rest of the ladies in our family. My appreciation for art probably stems from my days hanging out with her when I was young. We would often go to the art museum, or relax by a lily pond or a park with our sketch books. And as I got older, she always got me to try new ways to express my creativity. We even took a basket weaving class together when I was in college!

So, today is her day, and this card is for her. Here are the DEEtails:

My mom and I found a gorgeous handmade necklace in a little gift shop. It was a perfect blend of jewels and beads... sparkly, but not over the top... simple, but still quite a statement. Plus, it was in grandma's favorite colors! We of course, didn't hesitate to buy it! I made a card in a matching color scheme and similar style and my mom sewed a little pouch for the necklace and card. I started off with some Baja Breeze card stock with a Not Quite Navy mat and layered my ribbons on it. I used Baja Breeze satin ribbon from the Ribbon Originals Valet, Early Espresso grosgrain ribbon, and some Victoria Crochet Trim. Then I punched out a butterfly that was stamped with my Punch Potpourri stamp and embossed. I added a few blue jewels from my stash for a bit of sparkle. Then I added a sentiment at the bottom from my Wow Flowers set. I adhered everything on a Sahara Sand card. Perfect! I hope she likes it!

Love Ribbon? Participate in one of my Ribbon Shares to get the ribbon I used on this card and more! Plus, for every Ribbon Share you buy, you'll get a free yard of ribbon! What a deal!
