An Inspiring Cupcake

Hope you all had a wonderful Christmas! Wow! Can you believe that this is the last Cupcake Inspiration Challenge of the year? I can't believe that the new year is upon us! Check out this week's inspiration. Is this cupcake dreamy, or what? As soon as I saw it, my jaw dropped, then I dropped everything and got to work creating my card. I am in love! This is a serious Cupcake Inspiration!

This gorgeous flower is from our sponsor, Just Inklined. I printed out several of them in a sepia tone on PTI Melon Berry card stock. I cut out and adhered each layer with glue dots, bending up the edges a bit. Then I colored some Pearl Jewels and placed them in the center of my flower. I adhered a piece of Bella Bleu DSP onto a Mellow Moss mat and added frilly bow from my stash. I added my flower and colored some Rhinestone Jewels and placed them in some swirls, tucked under my flower.

I hope you are all having a wonderful Christmas! I'm here to share the card that I made for my mom for Christmas, based on the Off The Wall Craftiness challenge from last week. I know I missed the deadline, but I was completely inspired, so I had to share...

Rose Red, Cherry Cobbler and Garden Green card stocks stamped with SU!'s new Button, Button set, arranged as a tree using Stampin' Dimensionals on Naturals White card stock, embossed with PTI's Diamonds Impression plate.

But now, on to the good stuff! I wanted to share what my brothers, my hubby and I did for my mom's Christmas present. We sent our parents out for a day and got to work to turn our previous dining room turned sewing room back into a dining room and transform our formal living room, which didn't serve much purpose than a holding room for a lot of random stuff (including golf clubs, a piano, pretty things to look at and more sewing stuff).

Here is her new "studio". The room is positioned at the front of the house. This window looks out to our front lawn. These curtains were in the formal living room and we decided to leave them in there for now. Changing them out to something more colorful might be a future project. The shelves in front of the window were some simple wood ones that my dad built a while ago. We set up a mini ironing board on one and left the other space open. Underneath are some boxes of supplies and bolts of various linings that mom uses on her bags. In the center of the room is a brand new table and PINK lamp that we purchased. We pulled up some old dining room chairs that we had in the basement. You can't see it in the photos, but we added a chair mat that my friend, Rebecca donated, to make it a bit easier to pick up loose threads that fall on the ground. We're planning on securing those cords...

My Aunt bought my mom a body form and we set it up in this room. We brought down the lamp from our playroom and switched out the light bulbs to be natural light rather than soft white light. Behind it, are a few rolls of additional materials - vinyl and such. In the center of the wall is our old dining table, set up as a cutting table. We placed it between two old bookshelves, lined with mini bolts of fabric that my brothers and I wrapped. The left bookshelf holds binders of inspirational ideas that my mom has been gathering. The little shelf piece with the ribbon organizer on the right bookshelf is a new piece that we bought and my little brother built.

Here's another view of that side of the room. We decided to put up paintings and artwork that we had created. The three in the center were made by big brother - a self-portrait, a garden painting and a cute koala. The big mermaid painting was something that I made in 2nd grade. The artwork in the other photos are by also by my brothers and me (a self portrait of me is hanging above the body form), as well as one made by my grandmother (mom's mom). We also bought the shelving unit in the corner to match one that my mom had purchased before. This gives her a lot of more space to organize and store all her stuff! We bought a couple of pretty glass jars to display some buttons and threads and placed them up there.

To the right of the mermaid painting and shelf unit is an opening to our dining room. On the opposite side of the opening is the original shelving unit along with a self-portrait and poem by little brother. (If you were keeping track, that's all 3 of our self-portraits!) We made this little area her "business area" with personalized notepads, business cards, tags, and some of her favorite PINK tools - tape dispenser, white out, etc.

I made a cork board and dry erase board and hung it in the corner along with a yard sale find - a tiny shelf made from a yard stick. These wooden spools of silk thread were passed down from my paternal grandmother. They were the perfect colors for my mom's work room!

And here's the final touch... I made this sign for my mom. It hangs right above the doorway into the dining room. Hope you've enjoyed the little craft room tour! Christmas Presents

I made this card for the Create, Ink! challenge. Aren't these little presents fun?

Here are the DEEtails:

I stamped some SU! Playful Pieces images on River Rock, Soft Suede, and Whisper White card stock with some Soft Suede and Real Red inks. I can't quite remember where the snowflake pattern is from, but I'll let you know! I tied some taffeta and satin ribbons onto my packages. Then I added a Soft Suede decorative label punched with the sentiment from SU!'s Season of Joy set. Hope you like it!

Pastel Winter

There's something about three Christmas trees that I just love... Here's another trio of trees, this time in some non-traditional colors.



I took a cue from the beautiful inspiration photo at Moxie Fab World for the Tuesday Trigger. Isn't this beautiful?!

Layers again... This time with Shades of Spring DSP, some Naturals White card stock with an Eyelet Lace punched border, tied with soem Very Vanilla Seam Binding. Then I stamped three Whisper White trees from SU!'s Season of Joy set on Blushing Bride, Rose Red, and Baja Breeze card stock. I added a sentiment from PTI's Peace Be With You and punched it out with a Decorative Label Punch. I added some Rhinestone Jewels for a bit of glam.

A Very Merry Christmas

Happy Sunday! And Happy Cupcake Inspirations Day! Are you all ready for Christmas? I can't believe how quickly these days are flying by! Santa will be here before we know it! And speaking of Santa, check out this amazing cake for this week's Cupcake Inspiration Challenge!

I'm all about layers lately, and this card is no exception. I combined some Ski Slope DSP with some Cosmo Cricket patterned paper layered with some Old Olive Patterned Trees. I added a piece of Riding Hood Red card stock with an Eyelet punch border and SU!'s Punches Three tied up with some Mistletoe Ribbon Originals. For that extra special touch, I added some fun, sparkly wooden snowflakes from my stash.

Deck the Hall with Lace and Holly

This week's Pals Paper Arts Challenge is an Elements of Style Challenge - Get Your Lace in Place. Doesn't that just sound fun?! It's hard for me not to take a gorgeous photo like this, be completely inspired and run with it, but I still have more Christmas cards to make, so I incorporated lace into a Christmas number.


Here are the DEEtails:

I started off with a Garden Green card and added some Cosmo Cricket patterned paper. Then I added two strips of Victoria crochet trim. Then I added some ruffled Riding Hood Red striped ribbon. I stamped my images from SU!'s Berry Christmas set, adding some glittery embossing powder to the little bird. I added a Riding Hood Red mat and added it to my card. Hope you like it!

Winter Wonderland 2

Perhaps you are tired of some of the same elements popping into my cards, but I only have a handful of Christmas stamps and I love them to pieces - so I'm getting great use out of them! Today's card is for the Pink Elephant Challenge - Winter Wonderland (and I used a lot of the same elements in my previous Winter Wonderland card).

I started out with a Crumb Cake card and layered on my elements including some patterned papers from Cosmo Cricket, some Riding Hood Red Striped Grosgrain ribbon, the stamped image from SU!'s Notably Ornate set, SU! Patterned Trees stamped in VersaMark on Naturals White card stock with a bit of shimmery embossing powder, and some Very Vanilla Seam Binding topped with a Very Vanilla button, threaded with some Baker's Twine.

Winter Wonderland

Every once in a while I like to pile things onto a card and see how it turns out. It's not something I do often, but it seemed to work out on this card.


I made it for this week's Pals Paper Arts Winter White Challenge. It seems like ages since my last PPA challenge... and I did more cream than white... but I'm trying to get back in the swing of things...

I started with a Naturals White card and starting piling some elements on. I added some Elegant Soiree DSP on some Sahara Sand card stock. I slipped a Decorative Label punch underneath and added a Chat Room rub on sentiment. Then I added the elegant Notably Ornate stamp with Crumb Cake ink on Very Vanilla card stock and cut it out. I added a line of Patterned Trees which I stamped with VersaMark and embossed on Naturals White card stock. Finally, I trimmed my card with some ruffled Very Vanilla Satin ribbon. What do you think?

Some Love To Keep You Warm

Brrr! It's so cold here, but here's some love to keep you warm! And aren't these inspiration cupcakes perfect?! Yup, it's time again for the Cupcake Inspiration Challenge!


Here are the DEEtails:

Cold weather calls for lots of layers, so I piled them on! A little Naturals White, some Baja Breeze, some Ski Slope DSP, and a little bit of snow (Naturals White card stock). This cute girl is from AnitaBeStampin', our sponsor this week (and one of our sweeties). I paper pieced her coat and added some flocking to her fur trim. Then I added my sentiment from SU!'s Cold and Cuddly set to some Baja Breeze card stock, with a scalloped edge trim and some Rhinstone Jewels. Hope you're keeping warm today!

Warm Winter Wishes

I hope December is treating you well! I've been so busy with work that I haven't had much time to do much of anything lately! I've been trying to find time to create and de-stress and I finally had a bit of time to whip up this simple card this afternoon.

Sorry this card looks so blue! I used Lovely Lilac, which I always find difficult to photograph. I started off with a simple card and base. I pulled out some silver ribbon from my stash and wrapped it around my card. Then I used PTI's Peace Be With You stamp set and die to create a sparkly snowflake with some VersaMark and Glittery embossing powder. I adhered it using glue dots over the ribbon. Then I stamped the sentiment from SU!'s The More The Merrier set and added a Brushed Silver scalloped edge. So simple, with just the right amount of sparkle. Hope you like it!

Holly Jolly Christmas

I've been enjoying typing and printing out my own sentiments because I can make my card say whatever I want! I used the font, Do I Like Stripes?, for today's sentiment and printed it out on Naturals White card stock. I stamped my image from SU!'s Pendant Park in Garden Green and added some white flocking for the snow. Then I ripped some Naturals White cardstock, dipped the edges in white flocking, and adhered it to my card for a snowy ground. I colored some Rhinestone Jewels with red permanent marker and added some holly berries. I added a Garden Green mat and adhered everything to a Real Red card.

Blue Christmas

Leslie from A Creative Mint takes some of the most gorgeous photos. This week's City Crafter Challenge photo is no exception.

I started off with a piece of Naturals White card stock and stamped a branchy swirl from SU!'s Mixed Bouquet set in Crumb Cake. Then I punched a 2" circle in Paper Source Pool card stock and added some Brushed Silver swirls, topped with Rhinestone Jewels. I cut a little piece of Brushed Silver card stock for the top of the ornament and added a Whisper White Taffeta bow. For the bottom portion of my card, I stamped the sentiment from SU!'s Heard from the Heart set in Baja Breeze. I added a Scallope edge in Brushed Silver (it's a bit hard to see) and a ruffled Whisper White Taffeta ribbon.
